It contains musings on PowerBuilder, programming, database development and anything else which strikes my fancy.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been programming in PowerBuilder since version 5 (1996) and have worked in the Healthcare, Insurance, Manufacturing, Software, Utility, and Materials Processing industries. My database experience includes SQL Server, Oracle, SQL Anywhere, Sybase, DB2, and Access (&#8230;oh and Pick too).<\/p>\n<p>In February 2012 I was named a &#8216;PowerBuilder MVP&#8217; by Sybase.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve written books on Medieval weapons, armour, and castles for role playing games; been a box office manager for a concert hall; earned the Silver Palm as an Eagle Scout; earned a teaching certificate; programmed in Pick Basic; built countless plastic model kits; held mercury in my hand in grade school science class; watched the Apollo 11 moon landing; ran an APBA baseball league; played the wargame &#8216;War in Europe&#8217; (three times); and owned a car where seatbelts were optional equipment (and had none).<\/p>\n<p>More current interests include karate (I train in <em>Kidokime-ryu Karate do<\/em> and earned my <em>Shodan<\/em> &#8211; black belt in August 2020 at age 60), online gaming (under the handle of Dad Yoshi) and of course, blacksmithing.<\/p>\n<p>Feel free to email me at mbalent at anvil-of-time dot com<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/anvil-of-time.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/PWanvil.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-129 size-full\" title=\"HBanvil\" src=\"https:\/\/anvil-of-time.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/PWanvil.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"281\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anvil-of-time.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/PWanvil.png 281w, https:\/\/anvil-of-time.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/PWanvil-150x114.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 281px) 100vw, 281px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Yes, this is one of my anvils&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My name is Matt Balent and this is my blog.
